The South Hill Lacrosse Club will be dissolving.
In June 2011 several individuals got together and formed the South Hill Lacrosse Club in order to provide a local lacrosse program that focused on the development of lacrosse at a youth level, both for boys and girls. The intent was to provide exceptional play facilities, practice fields, top notch uniforms, experienced coaching staffs, and a family environment in a program that solely focused on players from 2nd Grade through 8th Grade.

We launched a summer program of pick-up games that ran for 9 weeks and capped that season off with providing free hotdogs, sodas, and chips to players, parents, and family members. Because we had players from a multitude of other programs and had not only kids out but also a few dads who tried their hands at lacrosse, we consider our summer program a success. There was a need, and want, for continued play of the sport after the traditional Spring Season and we filled that void.

Continuing on we opened a Fall/Winter Indoor Program that continued to allow players, at different levels, to develop skills and have fun. Meeting each Saturday (and continuing to mid-December) the turnout was great and the players continue to have fun.

We looked forward to the upcoming Spring Season, after being welcomed into the Boys Youth Lacrosse of Washington (BYLW) League and had sign-ups. Within a week we had complete rosters for our 3/4 Team and 5/6 Team and had almost a dozen girls interested in being on the 6-8 Girls Team.

We held a few clinics, including an invite to an elementary school, and the interest in the young boys and girls was amazing. This sport will definitely be growing even more over the next many years.

Then the dominoes started to fall. There was a League meeting in early November and several teams from the Central part of the league announced they were starting their own league. This left a void between the South teams and the North teams. There were several factors for the separation, one of which was the adherence to boundaries similar to those followed by High School lacrosse programs.

Other leagues formed and, because our Club was formed on the earlier design of the League, we became an island organization that would not be able to play against other teams because of their policies for League play.

Being that the intent of the South Hill Lacrosse Club was for the development and focus on the youth in our area and to provide them a place to play lacrosse the Board of Directors energetically sought other alternatives. In the end it is about our young players and their ability to play lacrosse, to set the differences of grown-ups aside, and provide them a season to play.

The Board of Directors sadly voted to dissolve the organization and, in the best interest of the youth, have reached out to other local programs. The players will have to participate in programs based on the High School in which they will attend in the future (based on current geographic locations); this means that some players will be heading to Highline Lacrosse, some to Lake Tapps Lacrosse, and the lion's share of our players will rejoin the Puyallup Lacrosse Club.
Our Board of Directors has been working diligently with the Puyallup Lacrosse Club's Board of Directors in order to provide a seamless integration into their program. There will be an announced date in which monies paid by our families for the Spring Lacrosse Season will be returned and families will have an opportunity to register with the Puyallup Lacrosse Club. Spots are guaranteed on that day; however, if your family opts to wait a few days before registering there will be no guarantee of a roster spot.

There have been many changes at Puyallup Lacrosse Club and we believe that our children, and your children, will be welcomed with open arms and embraced as members of the Panther Nation.

We know that this has come suddenly to all of you, as it had to us as well, but we want to make sure you know that we will continue to focus on the youth program[s], work with others to ensure the same, and help in any way to make the transition smooth.

Thank you for a great and wonderful 6 months, without all of you there would have been no South Hill Lacrosse Club. Your support and dedication to your children is admired and respected, we wish you all the best of luck in the coming year and for many seasons thereafter.

Very Respectfully,

South Hill Lacrosse Club
Board of Directors
